Roast Lamb
I do a bit of freelance sales here in Pattaya for a Bangkok manufacturing company. A few weeks ago the German owner of the company and his Thai engineer came to Pattaya to see me on business.
We were in my condo drinking Lemon Tea and chatting and the subject of food came up. The previous day I had roasted a leg of lamb and still had some cold in the fridge. I asked Khun Kun (the Thai guy) if he had ever tasted lamb. “What is lamb” he retorted.
After explaining that sheep are animals that you get wool from to make clothes he seemed to get the drift.
So, I cut a nice lean slice for him and drenched it in high quality mint sauce and popped it into his hesitant mouth.
His reaction was quite explosive. He raced into the toilet retching, spat the contents into the toilet and sculled about half a bottle of Listerine.
Chris (the German guy) and I were in hysterics and poor Kun, pale as a ghost, vowed never to trust me again.
So, the boys went back to Bangkok later that day and the lamb episode, thankfully, receded from Kun’s memory.
The next day, to refresh his memory, I emailed this cartoon to them with the caption: “Maybe why Kun doesn’t like the taste of Lamb”
Chris phoned me. He had the all the staff around the computer much to Kun’s consternation. Laughs all round……even Kun had a chuckle.
