The only public transport in Koh Phangan is by shared taxi service. Shared taxis depart from Thong Sala Ferry Port and relatively expensive compared to shared taxi services else where in Thailand.

Shared Taxis in Koh Phangan

Expect to pay 200 THB per person to travel from Thong Sala to Haad Rin (where the Full Moon Party takes place) and 300 THB per person to Thong Nai Pan or Haad Yao on the West Coast. The reason why shared taxis are so expensive in Koh Phangan is that the roads used to be very bad and the number of customers was often low. Now the roads have improved and the number of people visiting the island has increased but the fares have not dropped.
