Public Transport in Bangkok

Bangkok has a fantastic range of public transport systems. What Bangkok’s public transport lacks in terms of speed and comfort it more than makes up for in eccentricity and fantastic scenery.

Slow and Fast Types of Local Transport

The slowest and most uncomfortable way to travel around Bangkok is generally by local bus services. Local bus services in Bangkok are, however, very cheap and cover routes not on the rapid suburban railway networks. The two most efficient of these suburban railway networks are the MRT undergrounds network and the BTS overhead railway network, popularly known as the ‘skytrain’. The BTS and MRT networks are expanding to cover more and more parts of the city, although the take up of these services is affected by the relatively expensive fares compared to other forms of public transport.
