Located near the Khao San Road, the Four Sons Place is an affordable option for a stay in Bangkok. This is the third hotel I have stayed at in the ‘Fours Sons’ hotel group. The other two , the Four Sons Village and the Four Sons Inn, are also located in close proximity to the Khao San Road.
The Four Sons is one of the better hotel groups in Thailand focussing on budget accommodation, and certainly better the Sawasdee Hotel Group whose hotels I have found to be consistently awful. The Four Sons Group knows how to deliver good accommodation on a budget and other operators in the same sector should take note.
The Four Sons Place is a Budget Hotel
The Four Sons Place, priced very reasonably from 450 THB a night for a single room and 630 THB for a double room, is a cut above the numerous other cheap guest houses in the Khao San area. All three hotels in the Four Sons Group of hotels are pretty good, with clean, air-conditioned rooms, with free WiFi, en-suite bathrooms and satellite TV.
I stayed in this room by myself for a night before travelling onto Koh Phangan and it meet all my requirements, including saving money. The room was absolutely fine, not luxurious, but good for the money.
View of the Grand Palace
The room had a view as well, as can be seen from the picture above. The view is of the Grand Palace. It is an easy 31 minutes (2.7km) walk from the Four Sons Place to the Grand Palace. This is handy if you are looking to save money.
The hotel is also a short walk from the Khao San Road (230 metres) and the Phra Athit Chao Phraya Express Boat pier (1,100 metres). The Chao Phraya Express Boat is a very cheap way to travel, most journeys cost less than 20 THB, and you can reach the train station and connect with the BTS (Skytrain) network and Thonburi Train Station as well as the grand Palace and Wat Po if you know which Piers to alight at.
The Four Sons Place is on a small lane
The Four Sons Place is located on Trok Mayom Alley, off the Jakapong Road, which is 3 minutes walk from the Khao San road itself. Trok Mayom Alley is a narrow lane which runs parallel to the Khao San Road and it is a peaceful place to stay in a very busy area.
There are plenty of cheap restaurants and bars very close by and the hotel itself provides some very basic catering.
Book Four Sons Place for a Stop Over
I would stay here again if I was looking for a super place for a night in the Khao San Road. The closeness of the hotel to the Lomprayah bus stop and the Phra Athit Ferry Pier makes this a great budget hotel for a stop over in Bangkok before travelling on somewhere else in Thailand. The hotel has a lift also, something of a rarity for Khao San hotels, so you do not have to walk up lots stairs to get to your room.
