There are currently three companies providing joint bus and ferry services from Bangkok to Koh Samui whose tickets you can book in advance online. We recommend travelling with the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry Company which operates a direct service from the Khao San Road to Koh Samui.

Lomprayah bus service from Bangkok to Koh Samui
The Lomprayah service leaves from the Bowon Niwet Road, which is about 300 metres away from the Khao San Road. However, before you board you first need to check in about 45 minutes before departure at the Lomprayah booking office, which is easy to find as it is located at the Eastern end of Soi Rambutri which only 2 minutes walk away from Khao San Road.
- The first stage of the journey is a 7 hour 30 minutes journey by bus to the ferry pier.
- The second stage of the journey is a large speed boat or high speed catamaran ferry with an air-conditioned cabin to Koh Samui.

Other Travel Companies
There are other cheaper options, including the Government bus, which depart from the Khao San Road area and the Southern Bus Terminal. I do not recommend these other services because the trip to the Southern Bus Terminal takes a long time (it is on the other side of the Chao Phraya river) with no rail or metro connection, and some of the other providers of the service from the Khao San Road to Koh Samui have a bad reputation for safety and theft from luggage, as well as being unreliable.

Arrival In Koh Samui
The Lomprayah service is currently arriving in Koh Samui at Maenam Lomprayah Pier on the north coast of Koh Samui.
