Which ferry pier in Koh Samui does the boat leave from? Some services depart from Koh Samui bus station, but the majority leave from the ferry ports at Nathon, Bangrak and Lipa Noi connecting with bus and minibus services on the mainland. Which ferry port you need to leave from, and what options are available travel once you reach mainland Thailand, depend on which destination you are heading to and upon which company you use to get you there. Koh Samui to Bangkok

There are basically two different overland routes you can take from Koh Samui to Bangkok. You can either take a ferry to the mainland near Surat Thani and then take a bus or a train from there. Alternatively you can take a ferry to a port near to Chumphon (the ferry goes via Koh Tao) and then take a bus or train from there.

Koh Samui to Phuket

There are two companies provide direct boat and bus services from Koh Samui to Phuket. Both services take around 7 hours to get to Phuket. The cheaper of these services travels on the slow car ferry and then by bus to Phuket’s bus station. The other service uses a high speed ferry, taking 30 minutes off the journey town, and terminates in Phuket Town centre.

Koh Samui to Krabi

The Lomprayah company has three departures a day taking passengers from Koh Samui to Krabi Town centre in a quick 4 hours. The Seatran Company does the same journey twice a day in 5 hours or longer and costs about the same. The big difference is that the Seatran ferry departs from Bangrak pier, near Bophut, whilst the Lomprayah ferry departs from Nathon.

Koh Samui to Koh Phi Phi

There is a single direct service every day fro Koh Samui to Koh Phi Phi operated by the Seatran Company. The journey takes 7 hours 30 minutes departing from Bangrak Pier. The ticket price includes all three sections of the journey: Koh Samui to the mainland, bus to the ferry pier on the Andaman coast, and finally the ferry journey to Koh Phi Phi.

Koh Samui to Koh Phangan

There are upto 19 ferry departures a day from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan depending on the time of year. There are two companies providing high speed ferry services (the Lomprayah and Seatran Disovery companies) which can be booked online in advance of the day of travel. There The ferries from Koh Samui can becomes busy particularly in high season when Koh Phangan has its monthly Full Moon Party in Haad Rin and booking in advance is recommended 2 days before and 2 days after the night of the party.

Koh Samui to Koh Tao

There are 5 fast ferries a day from Koh Samui to Koh Tao. The journey time is between 1 hour minutes and 2 hours depending on which departure you take and service you use. All ferries stop at Koh Phangan for 10 to 20 minutes on the way to Koh Tao as well as a short stop on route at Koh Nangyuan island.
