Good points about the K Home Asok

The K Home Asok is a very close to the Sukhumvit MRT station (650 metres walking distance) and this is the reason that we booked to stay here. The MRT is Bangkok’s metro system which connects to Bangkok’s two major railway station, Bang Sue and Hua Lamphong, as well to the Airport Link service via Phetchaburi MRT station. This is a great place to stay if you want to travel around Bangkok via public transport rather than by taxi. From the hotel it took around a hour to travel to Suvarnabhumi Airport via public transport.

The rooms at the K Home Asok are the second big selling point. They are large, clean and represent excellent value for money.

The third big selling point of the K Home Asok is that it is on a quiet side street and the hotel actively discourages guests from making noise to disturb other residents. This a bonus for families and people who want to go to bed relatively early and get a peaceful nights sleep. The K Home Asok is less suitable for people who want to enjoy the lively local nightlife without needing to be quiet when they return to their accommodation late at night.

Rooms at the K Home Asok

The rooms at K Home Asok are large for a hotel on the Sukhumvit Road in this price range. The standard room size is 20 sqm increasing to 27 sqm if you pay extra to stay in a large room with a balcony. Unlike an increasing number of budget hotels in the area, all the rooms at the K Home Asok have windows. These are rooms which are suitable for a stay of several days rather than simply an over night stop in Bangkok in transit to somewhere else.

The rooms at the K Home Asok are simply and nicely decorated. The bed are comfortable and the air-conditioning works well. The room we stayed in was also very clean.

For the price, we thought the bathrooms at the K Home Asok were fantastic. They are large and have separate shower cubicles. I also the liked the decorative style with a brickwork effect and fake wooden floors.

Facilities at the K Home Asok

The in room facilities at K Home Asok are OK. The rooms have a small fridge, a kettle and a cupboard with glasses, cups, plates, bowls and cutlery. A microwave would have been helpful and this hotel should consider using the space available to install a kitchenette area.

The TV at the K Home Asok was a big let down. They claim to have cable TV, which they do, but only one English language new channel in addition to the cable TV service that you get for free in Thailand. Disappointing. The free in room WiFi, however, worked well enough to stream films from a laptop computer and a smart phone.

The K Home Asok does not have any shared facilities or do any catering. They do though have a pleasant seating area in front of the reception. The reception is not permanently staffed so you need to ring a bell when you arrive or leave if you have not arranged your your arrival or departure time in advance.
