The Maninarakorn Hotel has a good location a 14 minute walk from the Thae Pae Gate in Chiang Mai’s old town and an 11 minute walk from the popular Night Bazaar.
Hotel in Two Buildings
The Maninarakorn Hotel has two accommodation areas: an older 4 storey building (which they term the ‘Residence’) and a newer hotel building (called the ‘Hotel’). The Residence has no lift and slightly more worn rooms, many of which are very large at around 60 sqm.

These rooms in the Residence are the best value costing 862.50 THB a night including breakfast and they are better for smokers with easier access to an outside terrace. The hotel is entirely non-smoking. The rooms in the hotel are better furnished, but smaller and cost around 975 THB including breakfast. This is not a luxury hotel as such although it is a good mid-range option.
Rooms at the Maninarakorn Hotel
The Superior Hotel rooms all have twin beds, the Deluxe rooms have a double bed. The bathroom is adequate and the water was hot. The range of toiletries was better than expected. The air-conditioning and lights are controlled by a bedside console. Behind the beds in the hotel rooms there is slightly odd partitioned off seating area. All bedrooms feature a view over the city.

The other room facilities include a fridge and tea/coffee making facility. The free WiFi worked fine when we visited. Notable absences were an in-room safe and an English language film channels on the TV. Chiang Mai has a very cheap cable TV service that most other hotels use (Wee TV) and it seemed odd that this hotel did not use this same service. Other than this we found the room fine and comfortable enough for a short stay.
Facilities at the Maninarakorn Hotel
The hotel has a well furnished lobby, as well as long thin swimming pool, a gym, a spa and conferencing facilities. These additional facilities as well as the decoration of the common areas of the hotel was good, and indeed a much better standard than the rooms themselves.

The hotel also has a large dining room where breakfast is served and dinner can be eaten if you do not fancy the short walk to the excellent range of restaurants on the Chang Klan Road a 400 metre walk away.
Solid Budget Option
For the price this is not a bad choice. The location is good and the swimming pool is well worth worth using. We had an early morning flight to catch and it was easy to get to the airport. The hotel is on a main road (the Sridonchai Road) with convenient shops and market stalls nearby.
