Nan Bus Terminal

Nan Bus Terminal is the main long distance bus station in Nan, and this where bus services to and from major destinations such Bangkok and Chiang Mai arrive and depart.

Nan Bus Terminal is located easy walking distance to the west of Nan town centre. If you do not plan to rent a vehicle whilst in Nan we recommend that you stay in one of the hotels or guesthouses in the town centre as local public transport services are very limited in Nan.

About Nan Bus Terminal

Nan Bus Terminal is a busy station with a variety of long and short distance shared taxi, minivan and bus services arriving and departing from 14 platforms.

A lot of the local services are by minivan Nan Bus Terminal. To get to the border with Laos at Huai Kon you need to take one of the minivan services departing from Nan Bus Terminal at 06:00, 07:00, 08:00 and 09:00 from Platform 14.

Facilities at Nan Bus Terminal

There is a small shop selling snacks and drinks, as well as toilets, at the other end of the waiting area to the main entrance to the Bus Terminal. There is no left luggage office or other facilities at Nan Bus Terminal.

There is a row of good and inexpensive restaurants on the approach road into the bus station. These restaurants are amongst the best places to eat in Nan town centre. For wider range of shops, such as a chemist or a bank, then we recommend that you walk eastward 900 metres to the Yantarakit Koson Road.

The ticket offices at Nan Bus Terminal are inside the main terminal building by the main entrance to the station.

The ticket windows are numbered 1 to 10, with the Green Bus Company occupying counter 10. Transport Company Ltd, which is the government bus service, has its own separate ticket counter. In order to buy the ticket you want you need to go to the correct ticket counter. A guide to which counter you need for each service is written in Thai above the row of ticket counters. If you can’t read Thai then go to the Information Kiosk opposite the ticket counters and ask for help. When we last visited in August 2019 the staff in the Information Kiosk were very helpful and spoke reasonably good English.
