Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 is Phitsanulok’s town centre bus station located 2.1 km walking distance to the east of Phitsanulok Railway Station.

Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 is a much more convenient arrival and departure point for visitors to Phitsanulok, famous for the Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, than Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 2, which is located 11 km by road from Phitsanulok Railway Station.

About Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1

Until 2014 Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 was simply known as Phitsanulok Bus Terminal and it served as the main bus station for the city of Phitsanulok. In 2014 things changed when a new much larger bus terminal (known as Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 2) was opened at a site located well out of the city centre near a major interprovincial highway. The original Phitsanulok Bus Terminal still operates but the number of services which arrive and depart from Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 are far fewer than those operating out of Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 2. If you plan to go on a long distance bus journey from Phitsanulok you will have much greater range of options from Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 2 than from Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1.

A number of long distance bus services still operate out of Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1. You can travel direct from Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 to destinations such as Bangkok, Chanthaburi, Pattaya, Rayong and Chiang Rai. The majority of services from Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 are, however, shorter distance minivan services to destinations in the Northern Region of Thailand such as Sukhothai, Tak, Uttaradit, Mae Sot and Pichit.

Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 is town centre bus station which means that there are lots of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance, which is useful as there is little in the way of facilities at Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 itself.

Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 include:

• Toilets at the opposite end of the station to the main entrance.
• A small shop selling drinks and snacks near the toilet.
• Plenty of taxis and tuk-tuks waiting for business outside the front of the bus station.

There is no left luggage facility at Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1, which is inconvenient if you plan a short stop in the city to visit the main attractions.

Phitsanulok Bus Terminal 1 has ticket offices inside the building by the main entrance. Each company has its own ticket office. The names of the destinations served by each company are in most cases written in both Thai and English, although the signage for the most part does include information about departure times.

For shorter distance minivan services there is often a ticket desk by the bus platform from which the service departs. Each platform serves particular destinations and these are written in Thailand and English above the platform. For these services you normally need to simply go to the correct platfrom, buy your ticket, and then wait for enough passengers to turn up to make the trip commercially viable and at that point the service will depart.
