Hill top luxury resort. There are a number of different room types available. The Love Suites have a jacuzzi on the balcony and large rooms with sofa area. Its all good here with fantastic sea view pool and excellent buffet breakfast. The only downside of staying here is that it is a bit of a walk to the main road, but they do have a free taxi service. When we stayed we rented an automatic motorbike for 200 THB a day at the ferry pier which improved our enjoyment of this resort as it allowed us to travel to and from Bophut beach whenever we wanted.

Beach front restaurant at Sans SouciFamily run beach front hotel located at the quiet end of Chaweng beach. This hotel is often available at promotional prices which makes it great value. It has a pool and a nice restaurant. The rooms are decorated in old fashioned Thai/Chinese style. I liked this hotel because it was independently run, had a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. It is close enough to Chaweng town centre to walk and if you walk a short way back towards the town centre you reach the shared taxi route, where you can flag a shared taxi for the journey to Tesco Lotus and onto Maenam and Nathon for the ferry piers to Koh Phangan.

Beach front pool at the Iyara Beach HotelInternational standard hotel on the beach front near the centre of Chaweng. The rooms are good but the pool area and the restaurant are excellent. This is a popular place for 1 or 2 week stays. The service is good and the hotel is well maintained. The buffet breakfasts here in the beach front restaurant are one of the highlights of staying here plus the hotel is very close to the town centre.

If the purpose of your visit is to shop at the large Tesco Lotus and HomePro and visit the cinema then this is the place to stay. It is a 10 minute taxi ride to Chaweng beach. As an added bonus this apartment complex has a large outdoor swimming pool and a range of shops and restaurants in the forecourt.

Muay Thai Gym at the Wimaan BuriLocated just off the ring road, near Chaweng, this is a very pleasant resort in a peaceful setting. The rooms have balconies looking out over a densely forested hillside. The hotel has a large restaurant and Muay Thai fitness centre in the grounds. The advantage of staying here is that it is close to a shopping mall with a branch of Tesco Lotus, Homepro and a Multiplex Cinema showing the latest English langauge film releases.

Comfortable rooms at the Samui ResidenceOn the main shopping street in Nathon city. No sea views but a nice hotel close to the 3 star standard at a very cheap price. Close enough to walk to the Seatran or Lomprayah ferry piers in Nathon for an early morning start. Superior rooms have balconies. The Thai owner is a lovely lady who keeps the hotel very well maintained.

Entrance to the budget rooms at the Jinta City HotelThis is a good budget place to stay if you need to catch the early Seatran ferry from Nathon pier to Surat Thani, which leaves at 05.00. This hotel is on the seafront a 13 minute walk away. They have two types of room. The budget rooms are little more than somewhere to sleep for the night at a very low cost. The superior rooms are much better, but also more expensive. All rooms open out onto a pleasant courtyard with a medium sized swimming looking out towards the main road and the sea beyond that. One of the advantage of staying here is that you are very close to some of the best Thai restaurants on Koh Samui.
