Nearby Attractions
The Hotel ibis Bangkok Siam is on the Rama 1 Road close to the entrance to the National Stadium BTS Station. The BTS system is more commonly known as the ‘Skytrain’ which is an elevated railway with two lines covering large parts of central Bangkok. The Rama 1 Road is one of the major roads in Bangkok. Heading eastwards along the roads (280 metres) you come to MBK shopping centre which is a very large and cheap shopping centre with multiplex cinema on the top floor and dozens of restaurants inside.
Further along the Rama 1 Road are a number of other major shopping centre such as Siam Discovery, Siam Center and Central World which is the largest shopping centre in South East Asia. Further still up the Rama 1 Road you reach the Sukhumvit Road which is well known for it bars, restaurants and other laste night entertainment. If you are travelling from the Hotel ibis Bangkok Siam to the nearby shopping centres you recommend that you simply walk. If you plan to travel to the Sukhumvit Road then we recommend that you take the BTS because the traffic becomes very heavy during the evening.
Reception tat he Ibis Bangkok Siam
The reception for the hotel is on the ground floor. The ground floor of the building is shared with a Mercure Hotel and a 7-Eleven convenience store. This hotel does not have a ‘grand lobby’ but the three check-in desks are efficiently staffed and we checked in to our room very quickly. The hotel staff do not show you to your room but send you off in the lift to find your own room. This is not an issue and a practice that is becoming increasingly common in modern hotels, particularly branded hotels such as Red Planet and of course ibis.

The 7-Eleven convenience store is a handy addition to the hotel and it was priced the same as other branches of 7-Eleven in Bangkok. There is a designated smoking area in front of the hotel with artificial grass. Hotel ibis Bangkok Siam is a non-smoking hotel throughout.
Rooms at the Hotel ibis Bangkok Siam
The rooms are compact. The double bed was slightly smaller than normal for a Bangkok hotel, and this understandable as there would not be enough space to walk around a king sized bed. The bathroom was cleverly designed to make best use of a very small space. It has a separate shower cubicle. Everything worked fine in the room. The water was hot and the internet was quick.

There was tea and coffee making facilities, a minibar and a safe which the hotel eventually got to work, I say eventually because they needed to send three different staff members to the room to complete the task. The only thing in the room which was really disappointing was the TV. It was small and had very few English language channels and no English language film channels. Very disappointing and inexcusable for a hotel in this price range. On a more positive note, the hotel was very clean.
