The Stable Lodge Hotel is a moderately priced 3 star hotel on the popular lower part of the Sukhumvit Road in Central Bangkok.
Good points about the Stable Lodge Hotel
The main selling point of the Stable Lodge Hotel is it’s great location near the entrance to Sukhumvit Soi 8. This part of Bangkok is one of the most lively parts of the city in terms of nightlife, with both Soi 8 itself, and the surrounding streets, packed with bars, restaurants and nightclubs. It’s also a very short walk to the nearest BTS (skytrain) station and the nearest MRT (underground) station allowing for easy access to other parts of the city and the international airport. Importantly, there is also a 24 hour 7-11 convenience store very close to the entrance to the hotel.
The second thing I like about the Stable Lodge Hotel was its relaxed atmosphere. This is medium sized professionally run establishment with the ambience of a small family guesthouse. The staff were polite and relaxed, and the pool and restaurant has a similarly relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The rooms at the Stable Lodge Hotel are also very good. They are large and clean, have balconies, and the normal range of in room facilities that you expect in an international standard hotel.
Rooms at the The Stable Lodge Hotel
The Deluxe rooms at the Stable Lodge Hotel are relatively large for Bangkok at 30 square metres. In cheaper hotels the room size can be as little as 10 square metres. There is plently of room for two people at this hotel and for families an extra mattress on the floor can easily be accommodated .
I slept well at the Stable Lodge Hotel. The bed was comfortable and there was no noise at night except for a door of a neighbouring room being closed with a bang at 3 am in the morning. The air-conditioning is set, with no remote control to change it, so that was slightly inconvenient although it wasn’t uncomfortable. There were power sockets near the bed which was helpful.
The bathrooms at the Stable Lodge Hotel are OK. There is a separate hower area with a glass screen which is good because it means that the floor of the toilet doesn’t get wet whenever someone has a shower. The water in the shower was also hot, with a good level of pressure, although you need to run the water for 5 minutes before the water heater turns itself on and the water gets hot. Other than, everything was good with the bathroom and sufficient towels and soap where provided.
The balcony was the best thing about the room I stayed in at the Stable Lodge Hotel. It has seating for two and overlooks the restaurant and pool area. You can also see lots of tall buildings in the distance.
Facilities at the Stable Lodge
The room facilities at the Stable Lodge were good and they included the four most important things that you need: a fridge, a safety deposit box, a kettle. and a TV with English language film and new channels. It took some searching but I found 5 different English language film channels and as well as news and sports channels. The only thing they didn’t provide was any coffee or tea. You need to buy your own to make use of the kettle.
The Stable Lodge has an indoor restaurant and an outdoor dining area set around a small swimming pool. The speciality at the Stable Lodge Hotel is Scandinavian food. A main dish of Danish, Swedish or Norwegian food costs a standard 450 THB, with lower prices for small dishes such as open sandwiches. The beer and Thai food is more reasonably priced, and sitting in the leafy outdoor dining area with a drink is a popular afternoon activity for guests at this hotel.
Location of the Stable Lodge
The Stable Lodge is 260 metres walking distance from Nana BTS station on the Sukhumvit Road.
