About Travel to Ao Nang

Ao Nang is the most popular of the mainland resort destinations in Krabi Province.

Ao Nang Beach

The liveliest part of Ao Nang is its 1.4 km long white sand beach, and busy beachfront road. The beach itself is good for sunbathing and swimming, and has impressive view of the steep headland separating Ao Nang from Railay. From Ao Nang it’s a short trip in a longtail boat to Railay. Boats to Railay depart from Ao Nang Beach and there is no need to book in advance as in the tourist season there’s alway boatman on the beach waiting for customers.

Ao Nang stretches back from the beach and for better value restaurants and accommodation you might consider looking at the places on the road leading out of the town. The beach front road has a wide variety of bars and restaurants, as well as resorts, which tend to be a bit more expensive than those on the road leading away from the beach.

Noppharat Thara Beach

Also close to Ao Nang Beach is Noppharat Thara Beach, which is good for swimming and has many good resorts and restaurants at generally better value for money than in Ao Nang itself. Noppharat Thara Beach tends to be the beach where local people go because it’s much less busy.

Travel to Krabi Town

From Ao Nang it’s easy reach Krabi Town by the inexpensive white shared taxis which ply the beach front road. Krabi Town is an interesting destination and less developed as a tourist destination than Ao Nang. The riverside area in Krabi features an excellent evening time food market, and the town itself has a very large fresh food market that opens in the morning, and several evening markets, including a weekend market with live music and places to buy drinks and food.
