About Travel to Krabi
Bus services from Khao Lak to Krabi arrive into Krabi Bus Terminal, which is close to Krabi Town. Krabi Town is a pleasant and interest place to stay with some notable attractions such as Maharaj Market, the riverside walk through Chaofah Park in the centre of Krabi Town, and the nearby Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple). Most visitors to Krabi Province, however, choose not to stay in Krabi Town itself because it has no beach. The two most popular tourist destinations in mainland Krabi Province are Ao Nang and Railay. Ao Nang has a long sandy beach and lots of amenities for visitors, and it’s very easy to reach from Krabi Town. Shared taxis to Ao Nang depart frequently from Krabi Town and charge around 60 THB per person. In order to get to Railay you need to take local wooden taxi boat. These depart from a number of places including Ao Nang beach, however, the cheapest boat services to Railay depart from Ao Nammao Pier, which is 16 km by road from Krabi Town.
The other major destination for visitors to Krabi Province is Koh Phi Phi. Koh Phi Phi is a cluster of islands which are uninhabited except for the largest island, Koh Phi Phi Don which is very popular but massively overdeveloped, particularly in and around the island’s main town, Tonsai Village. There are quieter parts Koh Phi Phi Don in the north of the island near Laem Tong Beach which we recommend for families and older visitors. There are several different shared speed boat and ferry services from mainland Krabi to Koh Phi, some of which depart from piers in Krabi Town centre such as Krabi Marina Pier and Chaofar Pier. Follow the link for more information about speed boat and ferry services from Krabi to Koh Phi Phi.
