About Phuket Town

Phuket Town itself is becoming a popular tourist destination in its own right. The Old Quarter of the town is notable for its Sino-Portuguese shop houses and mansions dating back to the end of the 19th Century and the start of the 20th Century. Some of these buildings, such as the Chinpracha House, are open to the public as museums.

There is also a wide range of accommodation and places to eat in Phuket Town and the majority of these establishments deliver better value for money than you would find in Phuket’s coastal holiday resort town.

About Patong

From Phuket Town, the easiest and quickest coastal holiday destination to reach is Patong. By road Patong is 14 km from Phuket Town and the journey takes less than 30 minutes. Patong itself is long narrow town stretching the full 3 km length of Patong Beach. Patong Beach has fine white sand and during the tourist season it’s good for swimming.

Patong Town has a really wide range of types of accommodation, bars and restaurants. The most notorious feature of the town is the 350 metre long Bangla Road, which is also known as Walking Street and is lined with adult themed bars. Other parts of the town, including the beach front area, feature more upmarket and family friendly establishments.
