About Travel to Koh Phi Phi

The Phi Phi Island archipelago consists of 6 separate islands, only 1 of which is permanently inhabited, Koh Phi Phi Don, and this is arrival point for speed boat services from Koh Yao Noi.

Tonsai Village

Koh Phi Phi’s main ferry pier, Ton Sai Pier, is located right in the centre of Tonsai Village, which occupies a thin strip of flat coastal land between two hills. The scenery is very beautiful, with two bays, one facing North and the other facing South, a short distance apart and majestic sea cliffs on both coasts. This small town itelf, is far less idyllic with a tightly packed series of restaurants, bars and guesthouses accessible by very narrow streets which quickly become overcrowded in the tourist high season. The water quality at the village’s swimming beach, Loh Dalum Beach, is also less good than other quieter beaches in Thailand.

Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint

One thing visitors should do when they are staying in Tonsai Village is to walk up to Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint. To get to the viewpoint, or rather ‘viewpoints’ as they are 3 viewpoints, you need to walk up a long flight of concrete stairs which starts close to the Lux Guesthouse in the North Eastern part of Tonsai Village. At the top of this sweat inducing straicase is an entrance gate where you must pay 30 THB to enter the private land which contain the first two viewpoints. From viewpoint 1 it takes less then 15 minutes to walk to viewpoint 2 where the views over Tonsai Village and the two coastlines are much better. Viewpoint 3 is further up the hill and inside a small restaurant which requires you to buy a drink in return for seeing the view.
