Phuket Town

There remains a large community of the descendants of these Chinese settlers in Phuket Town, and there are a number of interesting shrines, shops and a museum related to this group which are well worth visiting.

Phuket Town also represents good value for money, with lots of inexpensive hotels and a wide range of restaurants. The town’s night markets also attract large numbers of tourists.

To travel beyond Phuket Town there are low cost shared taxi and minivan services departing from Phuket Bus Terminal 1 to destinations across Phuket, including a cheap local shared taxi service to Phuket Bus Terminal 2, which is Phuket’s long distance bus terminal. There is also a bus service to Phuket Airport which departs from Phuket Bus Terminal 1.
Travel to Patong
To reach Patong, which is Phuket’s most popular beach resort destination, you can take one of the hourly shared minivan services that departs from Phuket Bus Terminal 1. Patong has a long beach, lots of bars and restaurants, and accommodation to suit every budget. Patong, however, is one of the less suitable destinations for families.
