Khon Kaen is one of Thailand’s larger cities, with around 110,000 permanent residents. Khon Kaen is an important regional economic centre as well as a major transport hub for travel around the central part of the populous North Eastern Region of Thailand. Khon Kaen has great facilities including a wide range of hotels and a cluster of bars and restaurants catering to foreign visitors in the streets near to the Pullman Khon Kaen Raja Orchid. What Khon Kaen does not have, however, is many tourist attractions and the city is notably not as popular with long stay foreign visitors as Udon Thani, which is another of the major cities in the North Eastern Region of Thailand. If you do have some time to spend in Khon Kaen City Centre then the major attractions to visit are:
- Khon Kaen National Museum
- Wat Nong Waeng
- Wat Chai Si
- Bueng Kaen Nakhon lake and park
