Other islands in the group, which are easily accessible on day trips from Koh Phi Phi Don, include Koh Phi Phi Leh. Maya Beach on Koh Phi Phi Leh is one of Thailand’s most popular tourist attraction, well known because it featured heavily in the big bidget film ‘The Beach’.

Tonsai Village

Like Railay, Koh Phi Phi Don is very hilly and the areas suitable for development are very small with lots of resorts, restaurants and bars tighly packed together. This is most noticeably the case in Tonsai Village in the centre of Koh Phi Phi Don. Tonsai Village is where the majority of the long distance ferries and speedboat services arrive and depart, and the most of visitors to Koh Phi Phi choose to stay in Tonsai Village as a consequence.

Tonsai Village has a stunning location on a thin strip of land with sea each side, and steep hills forming a natural barrier the expansion of this small town. On the south side of Tonsai is Tonsai Bay where the port is located. From Tonsai Bay it’s a 230 metre walk to Loh Dalum Beach on the north side of Tonsai Village. Loh Dalum Beach is 1.1 km long and a popular place to swim and sunbathe during the day, and at night it’s place where lots of visitors stay up late drinking alcohol.
