About Travel to Krabi

Railay is located on a small peninsula a relatively short distance from Ao Nang Beach, however, because of the hilly terrain there is no road access connecting Railay to the rest of Krabi Province. If you want to travel from Railay to anywhere else in Krabi Province, including the airport, then you need to first travel by sea to a ferry pier where you can board a bus, taxi or minivan for the remainder of the journey to your next destination.

Different Piers in Krabi

There are lots of different boat services connecting Railay to the rest of Krabi. These boat services each travel to one of four different ferry piers in Krabi. Depending upon your end destination, it may be more convenient for you to use some piers than it is others.

Travel to Ao Nang

If you are travelling from Railay to Ao Nang, then we recommend that you go to Nopparat Thara Pier. Nopparat Thara Pier is located at the far end of the beach which is adjacent to Ao Nang Beach. From Nopparat Thara Pier the journey to any hotel in Ao Nang will be less than 4 km.

Travel to Krabi Town

For travel to Krabi Town, and Krabi Airport and Krabi Bus Station, we recommend taking a ferry or boat service that terminates at either River View Krabi Pier or Chaofar Pier. Both River View Krabi Pier and Chaofar Pier are located in Chao Fah Park in the centre of Krabi Town. The river front Chaofa Park is an area of immense natural beauty and these two piers share one of the most scenic locations of any ferry piers in Thailand.

 Travelling Cheaply to Krabi

The cheapest services from Railay to Krabi arrive into Ao Nammao Pier. Ao Nammao Pier is located to the east of Railay much closer to Krabi Town than Ao Nang. The cheapest way to travel the 15 km from Ao Nammao Pier to Krabi Town is to take one of the while coloured shared taxi services which frequently ply the route between Ao Nang and Krabi Town. On arrival at the pier either wait at the pier or walk towards the main road and wait there. By taxi the journey from Ao Nammao Pier will cost around 600 THB, and the journey to Krabi Airport around 700 THB.
