I want to stay on the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok with a view of the river from the room, but I can’t afford one of the luxury hotels like the Mandarin Oriental or the Shangri-La. Any suggestions?

Try the Navalai River Resort. To get a river view you need to book one of their River Breeze Rooms which cost around 2,199 THB per night.

The Navalai River Resort is on the Phra Athit Road, which is near the amenities of the Khao San area.

The rooms are 3 star standard with all the normal facilities, including free WiFi. The hotel also has a pool and nice dining/bar area on the river. Overall a nice place to stay.
Chao Phraya Express Boat
The hotel is very close to the Chao Phraya Express Boat Pier, which is the easiest and most interesting way to visit the riverside temples and palaces, such as the Grand Palace.
