Where can I buy rolling tobacco in Sukhumvit, Bangkok?

Reader’s E-mail:

I am staying in a hotel on the Sukhumvit Road and I can’t find anyway to buy rolling tobacco. In the 7-Eleven they only seem to sell horrible flavoured rolling baccy. I know they sell it Khao San Road, but I can’t be bothered to trek all the way down there. Any suggestions?

There is a large chemist on the Sukhumvit Road between Soi 4 (the one leading to the Nana Plaza) and Soi 2. Its a big independent chemist shop that has been open for decades and is well known as the place to buy rolling tobacco in Sukhumvit. In the picture below it is the second of the two chemists with the blue sign saying ‘DRUG STORE’ with the writing in gold relief which says ‘CHAROEN PHARMACY’.

When you go into the shop the tobacco is on the left hand side in a glass display cabinet. They have most Western brands at the average price you normally pay (around 270 to 320 THB for a 50 gram packet depending on the brand). There appears to be no discount on offer for buying in bulk.

If you are buying it to bring home then duty free at Suvarnabhumi Airport is the cheapest place in Thailand. Last time I went they were selling 5 packs of Drum for 600 THB.
