The White Inn in Nong khai is a real bargain costing from around 650 THB per night. For the price you pay it has to be one of the best value for money hotels in Nong Khai.
The Service is great at the White Inn
The White Inn is a family run business and they run it efficiently. The hotel is immaculately clean and maintained. The desk service is polite, helpful and does not have that hard edge you sometime find in independently run Thai hotels. I was checked in very quickly, shown to the room and they asked whether I needed anything – exactly the way hotel service should be.

Large Rooms
The room are very large. They easily manage to fit a sofa in the area between the bed and the TV cabinet. The furniture and decorations look new – the hotel was only constructed in 2010. The bathroom is large and nicely fitted out. My only criticism is that the water was not quite hot enough for my liking although the shower was pretty powerful.
Comfortable Bed
The bed was comfortable with a thin blanket rather than a sheet. The TV was good with a number of English language channels, including BBC News and one premium film channel showing fairly new releases. The air-conditioning was good as well. This hotel also has the lighting right, with a bedside switch to shut the lights off when you want to go to sleep.
Great Location
The hotel is well located in the centre of Nong Khai. The street where White Inn is located has around a dozen bars and small restaurants. This is the place where Nong Khai’s small population of resident Europeans and Australians like to come to meet and drink. About 100 metres walk from the hotel you get to the river. There are plently of great restaurants and bars in the riverside area near the hotel. If you are lucky enough to be in Nong Khai on a Saturday then the weekly night market is close by as well. Even closer (within 50 metres) 0n the main road are two of my favourite restaurants in Nong Khai: the Em & Im restaurant serving French/Thai style sausage baguettes for 10 THB each in the morning and strong Lao Coffee (the Em & Im is very popular with the locals), and the Mariam restaurant for very cheap and tasty Indian food.
A Good Hotel Overall
Very nice hotel. Near everything. Inexpensive. Good internet and satellite TV. The only thing wrong with this hotel is the absence of a river view and a nice balcony to sit on and enjoy it. If the river view is not important to you (but the value for money is) then there is no better place to stay in Nong Khai.
